Craft - Trivet

Check out this easy craft to make for your graduation party or bridal shower or wedding or B'nai Mitzvah.  You can personalize your party with color co-ordinating coasters or trivets for your parties. You could also write your guests names on the tile and use them as nameplates. Your guest can take them home to remember the special occasion.

Coaster or Trivet

Supplies:
tiles
Mod Podge (Matt or Shiny, I used shiny to make it look like painted glass)
decorative craft paper
scissors
felt circles

Place tile on the craft paper and trace. Cut out. Paint Mod Podge on tile. Place craft paper on top and smooth out. IF you want to write your guest names on the tiles then do it before you add a top coat of Mod Podge. Now, add a coat of Mod Podge. Let dry. Repeat atleast one more time and let dry. Add felt circles to the back of tile to prevent it from scratching your table.

Jewelry - Vintage Pendant

This pendant was made with my Grandmother's jewelry. It was an earring that I made into a pendant.

Insecticide Spray

I am still making lotions and potions with all of the essential oils I bought. The insect repellent (blog post 7/1/13) worked for about fifteen minutes before the mosquitoes decided the spray tasted like a marinade and NOT a repellent! The deodorant (blog post 7/3/13) worked but I would not recommend traveling with it. It was a melted mess when I arrived at our destination. I will make more and use it only in my home. My next experiment is a homemade insecticide spray. I adapted this one so my husband can use it on his garden. Insecticide Spray   1/2 head of garlic (you do not need to peel them) 1/2 T of pepper flakes 1/2 cup water   Process in a blender until smooth then pout mixture through a sieve to remove chunks of garlic or pepper flakes. This is your "base."   Pour your base mixture into a spray bottle. Add 4 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of Jojoba oil. Screw on top and shake.
