Jewelry - Necklace - Upcycle bottle caps- kid friendly

Summer is a few weeks away and more drinks will be consumed with a plastic cap. We all know we should stop purchasing plastic water bottles but many are still purchased. So, recycle the bottles and "upcycle" the caps by making cap jewelry!

Bottle Cap Jewelry

Supplies:
ribbon
jewelry bails
jewelry jump rings
plastic cap
Elmer's glue
food coloring (I used Neon Food Coloring colors)
ice pick
jewelry pliers

Fill a plastic cap with Elmer's glue. Then add a drop of food coloring and mix with a toothpick. Let dry for at least three days. When dry use an ice pick to poke a hole at the top of the cap. Then use your jewelry pliers to open the jump ring. Insert into hole and add the bail. Use your pliers to close the jump ring. Cut ribbon to desired length.

Tikkun Olam project - Crochet Sleeping Mats

I love this idea for a "pay it forward" project. This project reuses plastic bags that are made into a sleeping mat for the homeless. My mother and her friends at Country Meadows in Bridgeville, PA work together to make these mats for the homeless.

Jewelry - Vintage Pendant

This pendant was made with my Grandmother's jewelry. It was an earring that I made into a pendant.
