Jewelry - Pendant

This is made from old jewelry that was broken or I lost pieces of the jewelry. l kept the beads and finally turned it into something I can wear. Here is one of the pieces I made.

Supplies:
beads
jewelry glue
wooden disk
acrylic paint
jewelry bail
toothpick

Paint the wooden disk front and back. Let dry. Put jewelry glue in the center of the disk. Do not cover the entire disk with glue. Drop a few beads into the glue. Use a toothpick to move the beads to the outside of the circle. Keep doing this until you have as many beads as you want on your disk. Let dry. Next glue a jewelry bail to the back of your disk and let dry.

Jewelry - Vintage Pendant

This pendant was made with my Grandmother's jewelry. It was an earring that I made into a pendant.

Insecticide Spray

I am still making lotions and potions with all of the essential oils I bought. The insect repellent (blog post 7/1/13) worked for about fifteen minutes before the mosquitoes decided the spray tasted like a marinade and NOT a repellent! The deodorant (blog post 7/3/13) worked but I would not recommend traveling with it. It was a melted mess when I arrived at our destination. I will make more and use it only in my home. My next experiment is a homemade insecticide spray. I adapted this one so my husband can use it on his garden. Insecticide Spray   1/2 head of garlic (you do not need to peel them) 1/2 T of pepper flakes 1/2 cup water   Process in a blender until smooth then pout mixture through a sieve to remove chunks of garlic or pepper flakes. This is your "base."   Pour your base mixture into a spray bottle. Add 4 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of Jojoba oil. Screw on top and shake.
