Jewelry - Earrings

Make different earrings from trim or lace. Go to your favorite fabric store and check out all the new trim. These earrings are easy to make. Your teenagers can choose their own trim to make their own unique earrings.
Daisy Trim Earrings

Supplies:
any trim that can be cut without the ends unraveling
4 jump rings
2 earring hooks
fabric stiffener (I used Stiffy)
ice pick
scissors

Plan ahead because it takes a couple of hours for the fabric stiffner to dry.
Cut trim to desired length. Coat the trim with fabric stiffener. Let dry. Poke a hole at the top of the trim with an ice pick. Insert one jump ring. Add another jump ring and attach the earring hook.

Jewelry - Vintage Pendant

This pendant was made with my Grandmother's jewelry. It was an earring that I made into a pendant.

Insecticide Spray

I am still making lotions and potions with all of the essential oils I bought. The insect repellent (blog post 7/1/13) worked for about fifteen minutes before the mosquitoes decided the spray tasted like a marinade and NOT a repellent! The deodorant (blog post 7/3/13) worked but I would not recommend traveling with it. It was a melted mess when I arrived at our destination. I will make more and use it only in my home. My next experiment is a homemade insecticide spray. I adapted this one so my husband can use it on his garden. Insecticide Spray   1/2 head of garlic (you do not need to peel them) 1/2 T of pepper flakes 1/2 cup water   Process in a blender until smooth then pout mixture through a sieve to remove chunks of garlic or pepper flakes. This is your "base."   Pour your base mixture into a spray bottle. Add 4 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of Jojoba oil. Screw on top and shake.
